This section shows the research groups related to the Program, registered on the CNPq platform.

Instrumentation and Computational Methods in Biomedical Engineering

The research group on instrumentation and computational methods works on the integration of practical and theoretical tools in the solution of biological problems. The group has carried out several scientific and technological development works in an interdisciplinary scope and has a body of young researchers with great training versatility. The group's production stands out with important contributions in different themes in biomedical engineering, such as: biomedical instrumentation and development of medical equipment; multivariate analysis of health data; biomedical signal processing and clinical tools; modeling of biological systems; development of assistive technologies for rehabilitation.

 Public Health Informatics

The Public Health Informatics Research Group was created in 2018. Since then, research professors, collaborators and various academics make up the group and develop research focused on various themes of Health Informatics applied in the context of Public Health. The Public Health Informatics Research Group also develops research together with other UFABC groups, highlighting the Instrumentation and Computational Methods Research Group in Biomedical Engineering, also linked to the Center for Engineering, Modeling and Applied Social Sciences; in addition to performing collaborations with Research Groups in Brazil and abroad; and dialogue through actions with the Public Health service.

LEADERS: Priscyla Waleska Targino Simões, Harki Tanaka

 Biophotonics and Biomedical Engineering

This research group aims to study the interactions of light with biological tissues, drugs or biomaterials with a focus on the development of new technologies and/or techniques for diagnosis, monitoring or treatment of different human pathologies, with a main focus on minimal intervention and prevention. In this context, in vitro, in vivo and clinical studies are carried out to establish more efficient, less costly and less invasive protocols than the traditional methods already used in life sciences. The technologies of study emphasis in this group are: lasers at high and low intensities, antimicrobial photodynamic therapy, optical coherence tomography, vibrational spectroscopy and fluorescence imaging.
