 1. I took disciplines at another institution or at another UFABC postgraduate course. Can I apply for credits?

Yes, you can. For this, you must complete and sign the form available on the PROPG website, attach the requested documentation and forward it to your advisor. If he/she agrees, he/she will forward this documentation from his institutional email (which is valid as a signature) to the PPGEBM coordination for consideration.

 

 

 2. I've done all the disciplines and now I intend to dedicate myself only to the research project. Should I enroll?

Yes, the student must register before each quarter. If he/she is not going to take disciplines, he/she must enroll in "Preparation of the dissertation". 

 

 

 3. I intend to take the qualifying exam in the next four months. How should I register?

You must enroll in "qualification exam".

 

 

 4. I intend to present my dissertation in the next quarter. How should I register?

You must enroll in "Dissertation Defense".

 

 

 5. I presented my work at a congress, and I have an article published. Can I apply for credits?

Yes, you can. For this, you must fill out the "credit recognition for complementary activities" form available HERE, sign, attach the requested documentation and forward it to your advisor.

If he/she agrees, he/she will forward this documentation from his institutional email (which is valid as a signature) to the PPGEBM coordination for consideration.

 

 

 6. I performed an English proficiency exam administered by my advisor. How can I request an update of my academic record?

For this, you must fill out the "foreign language proficiency" form available HERE, sign, attach the requested documentation and forward it to your advisor.

If he/she agrees, he/she will forward this documentation from his institutional email (which is valid as a signature) to the PPGEBM coordination for consideration.

In addition, your advisor must send the coordination a copy of your test performed, with the grade obtained. 

 7. Can I write my dissertation in English?

Yes, you can.

 

 

 

 8. Can I write my dissertation in the form of scientific articles?

Yes, you can.

 

 

 

 9. What is the structure of the dissertation text?

Text can be written in ABNT format. Always consult the norms for the elaboration of dissertations and theses available on the UFABC library website. Don't forget the catalog card either. Look here.

 

 

 10. What is the deadline and what is needed to take the qualifying exam?

The qualifying exam must be taken within a maximum of 18 months from the date of enrollment (see the date of entry on your SIGAA portal). For this, the student must have proven English proficiency (see procedures HERE) and have completed at least 75% of credits in disciplines.

The student must enroll in “Qualification” in the four-month period they intend to qualify (don't forget to follow the deadlines according to the enrollment date). The board must be registered with SIGAA by the advisor at least 23 days in advance (the board does not need to be approved by the coordination beforehand).

 

For the boards: nominate at least 06 names: 03 incumbents (President + 02 evaluators, with at least 01 external to the program) and 03 alternates, with at least 01 external to the program.

Attention: advisor and co-advisor CANNOT BE MEMBERS of the qualifying board and AT LEAST one HEADING member MUST BE EXTERNAL TO THE PROGRAM. The PRESIDENT of the board must be a member of the PPGEBM.

 

Invitation letters are automatically sent to the members of the board after approval in the system.

 11. What is the deadline and what is needed to present the dissertation?

The dissertation must be presented within 24 months of the enrollment date (see the date of entry on your SIGAA portal). The student must enroll in “Thesis or dissertation defense” in the four-month period he intends to present (don't forget to follow the deadlines according to the enrollment date).

The board must be registered with SIGAA by the advisor at least 23 days in advance. The dissertation or thesis in pdf, containing the thanks to CAPES as determined by CAPES Ordinance No. 206, OF SEPTEMBER 4, 2018 (http://propg.ufabc.edu.br/wp-content/uploads/Portaria_206_CAPES_DOU_04.09.18-citação-da-Capes.pdf), must be sent by the advisor/student to all members of the board.

 

For the Board: nominate at least 06 names: 03 members (at least 01 external to the Program) and 03 alternates (at least 01 external to the Program).

 

Attention: the ADVISOR participates in the board as PRESIDENT and AT LEAST ONE HOLDING member and ONE ALTERNATE MUST BE EXTERNAL TO THE PROGRAM.
