RESUMO:
Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) has attracted interest from medical researchers because of the advantages it presents compared with other diagnostic techniques, such as its lower price, its portability and the absence damage associated with its use. This technique consists of the formation of tomographic images of the impeditivity distribution of internal tissues of a body region, which opens the possibility of using it on the detection or monitoring of conditions that change this variable, such as stroke.
 
Mathematically, an image is obtained from solving a nonlinear and ill-posed inverse problem. For this reason, it's necessary to add a priori information about the problem so it's regularized and then it's possible to reach an adequate solution. In this project, magnetic resonance images of human heads were used for the construction of a statistical anatomical atlas intended to be used as a priori information in the regularization of EIT's inverse problem, aiming with that to investigate the possibility of improving the quality of the obtained images in the specific case of cerebral hemodynamic evaluation.
