The eldery Venezuelan migrants in the Operation Welcome: The effectiveness of the Operation Welcome among eldery Venezuelans in the 13 September Shelter, in Boa Vista, Roraima
Still invisible, Venezuelan elderly migrants began to appear in official Brazilian data, however, without the existance of a significant volume of public policies specifically for this group. For the study of international migration and human rights practices regarding the reception of Venezuelan migrants in Brazilian shelters, it is extremely important to verify whether the current international and national legal instruments, as well as the daily practices in the sheltering process, guarantee the minimum conditions for a dignified stay while awaiting for a process of internalization and integration into the Brazilian society. Based on this, this master's thesis intend to analyze how sheltering policies aimed at Venezuelan migrants in Boa Vista, Roraima, address the integration needs of elderly migrants into the Brazilian society. The field research was divided into two moments: 1) exploratory research carried out in Boa Vista, from April 3 to 20, 2022; 2) systematized research also carried out in Boa Vista, from September 7 to 22, 2022. For both moments of the field research, three methodological procedures were used: 1) bibliographic analysis; 2) document analysis; 3) and participant observation.
