Audiovisual narratives of the peripheries and cultural disputes in search of the people
The objective of this research is to understand the changes in the audiovisual production scene linked to the popular classes in recent decades in the country, in view of changes in organizational forms, in social political arrangements and in the different narratives and expressions of this production. It is analyzed, above all, how these dialogues with the elaboration of categories such as people, popular and peripheral, conceptions present in other social and institutional structures, as well as other discursive categories used to address inequality. The research seeks to present a characterization of contemporary audiovisual production with the participation of people from Brazilian urban peripheries, emphasizing the dispute of meanings that emerge from the 2000s onwards due to the increase in the production and circulation of videos and films produced by filmmakers living in the periphery. In addition to the theoretical discussion, a film analysis of some of these productions is carried out.
