From Punishment to Education: Discussing the Potential of Basic Education
This work seeks to discuss the potential of Basic Education in combating violence against women, in a critical perspective on the criminalization of conduct and intensification of sentences. In the last years, the criminalization of conduct and intensification of penalties as a means of combat gender violence has been in force, however, studies in the area of Feminist Criminology have denounced the ineffectiveness of this path, understanding that gender violence emanates from a socio-cultural configuration based on the patriarchal order and in the asymmetry of power between genders. In this way, it’s necessary to take a new look at areas that can contribute to the deconstruction of this socio-cultural basis.
