SUMMARY:
In this work we present a proposal for a Generalized Predictive Control Applied to the
Wind Turbine Grid Side Converter for the Provision of Ancillary Services. It seeks to allow
the DFIG to be able to sense changes in the grid and generate enough extra power to help
restore system frequency. As a result of the investigation, two publications are presented,
a book chapter, Magnetic Analysis Using the Finite Element Method for Wind Power
Generators, and an article, Generalized Predictive Control Applied to the Grid Converter
Side, it is concluded that The method Element analysis represents an accurate and non-
invasive technique for analyzing the operation of wind generators and is a powerful tool
for the design of electrical machines in wind generation applications. The proposed GPC
controller is a suitable solution to allow frequency support of DFIG-based wind turbines
in microgrids. It is proposed to continue the investigation by testing the control strategy
(GPC) for the grid-side converter (GSC) with the doubly powered induction generator
(DFIG) on the laboratory, verifying the frequency support capacity, corroborating the
results with the simulated results.
