RESULTADOS E DISCUSSÕES SOBRE A REESTRUTURAÇÃO DO SETOR ELÉTRICO NA BOLÍVIA – UMA ANÁLISE SOBRE A NACIONALIZAÇÃO DO SETOR.
In view of the high number of families without access to electricity in Bolivia until the beginning of the
2000s and a strong stagnation in the electricity sector as a whole, a restructuring in the format of the
country's electrical system was planned to meet this need, which had come a long time ago. affecting
Bolivia's social and economic development, especially in rural regions or further away from large centers.
Such restructuring involves changing the role of the State in the sector, where before it was outlined by
private companies, many of them foreign, which were capitalized and sold during a process seen
throughout the continent during the 1990s, with the application of neoliberal policies.
From the restructuring of the electricity sector, proposed by President Evo Morales, from 2006,
the sector is gradually managed by the government, until finally the nationalization of strategic
companies to the sector. With the adoption of public policies for access to electricity, the expansion
of electricity generation and transmission activities, numbers now show a new picture of the system.
Therefore, the objective of this work is to analyze these results from the restructuring of the sector,
analyzing the numbers of availability of electricity in the Bolivian departments, and the generation and
transmission of electricity in Bolivia in comparison with the previous data when the sector was capitalized
and privatized.
