Aspects and Analyses on Protection Parameterization of Consumers with PV Generation
This work analyzes the influence of photovoltaic solar generation, connected through inverters, on the performance of protection devices for a consumer connected to the medium voltage network. The work discusses important aspects related to the protection functions required for this type of consumer and establishes criteria for modeling inverters in the SINAP computer program. For the simulations performed, the database of a real distribution network was used, as well as the detailed representation of the consumer facilities (UFABC - campus Santo André). After modeling the electrical system (feeder and UFABC) a large number of fault simulations were performed, thus allowing to analyze whether the presence of photovoltaic generation requires changes to the parameterization criteria of the protection functions to meet the coordination requirements. Additionally, considering the results observed, some important aspects were raised regarding the need to standardize the protection schemes required by utilities. Discussions and comments regarding the observed results are presented in the text, along with the simulations and some practical tests.
