SUMMARY:

The evolution of the Internet and Online Social Networks have transformed the way people relate and communicate. The advent of the Internet has opened up a new world of possibilities, allowing instant interaction between people from different parts of the world. With the emergence of Social Networks, this interaction has become even more intense and dynamic, allowing people to connect quickly and easily, share information, ideas, interests and opinions. However, this new virtual reality has generated questions about people’s behavior and how they relate in this universe in relation to their traditional experiences. There are many questions whether this virtual connection is not creating a certain social alienation, leading people to isolate themselves from the real world and focus only on the virtual universe without worrying about the consequence of their actions. Given this, this study focused on identifying some kind of pattern that could correlate the Connections and Contradictions between the Virtual and Real World, as it suggests that there are differences and tensions between these two worlds. To this end, the data collected for analysis were extracted from the Social Network Twitter, on the theme Big Brother Brazil 21 and 22, broadcast by the television media Rede Globo. As resources, we used Twitter API, Python programming language, organization in Electronic Spreadsheets, statistical method of Pearson’s Linear Correlation, modeling in Graph format for better visualization of the data and tables and graphs for better identification and understanding of the results. By investigating data on people’s behavior in a television program that, by its nature, can generate contrasts and conflicts between virtual perception and reality, it was possible to gain a deeper understanding of how people interact in different contexts and how computer-mediated communication can affect the way emotions are expressed and perceived. Future research is needed to go beyond the methodological and statistical limitations used in this research. What can rightly conclude is that analyzing the data produced by Online Social Networks is enriching and can promote the understanding of how human interactions can be shaped through them, whether in the real or virtual world.
