Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control Applied to the Power Control of the Grid Connected Inverter

Renewable energy sources such as solar and wind require power inverters such as interface for
 integration with the alternating voltage of the power system. 
The increase in integration of renewable sources to the system has raised concerns regarding the
operation of converters. In this work, a finite-type predictive control technique is proposed. control set
 (FCS-MPC) applied to control the power of the inverter connected to the grid, in order to enable its 
operation with lower total harmonic distortion (THD) than current injected into the network. 
The FCS-MPC controller uses the system-time model discrete to predict the future behavior of the current,
 which is then used to determine the powers injected into the network, and an error cost function between 
the predictions and power references. This cost function is minimized by direct selection of the signal of 
optimal control to be applied to the inverter. The simulation results prove the efficiency of the proposed 
control system, proving to be able to keep THD below 5%, according to the IEEE std 519-2014 standard.
