SUMMARY:

Currently, Brazil stands out for its potential to generate electricity from the sun, because comparing the place with the lowest solar radiation in Brazil, it is possible to generate more solar electricity than the place with the highest solar radiation in Germany, being the same one of the countries leaders in the generation of electricity from the sun, while Brazil does not use solar energy as it could and within this concept it is interesting in terms of energy efficiency, compared to other energy sources, since it will replace some other energy source.

The general objective presented in this work is to determine the Energy Return on Investment (EROI) of a photovoltaic energy conversion system. It is considered from the raw material to the availability of energy for final use

The methodology used in this work is applied in relation to its nature and generates knowledge for practical application and directed to the solution of the specific problem. Regarding the form of approach, it is quantitative and translated into numbers of opinions and information to be classified and conducted. As for its objectives, it is descriptive, where it describes the relationships between the variables and as for the technical procedures, it is bibliographic and survey where the data obtained are grouped in tables and the variables under study are quantified, allowing the use of correlations and other statistical procedures.

The expected results for this work are obtaining and valuing the energy flow of the photovoltaic energy conversion system, related to the amount of energy contained in 1 ton of silicon to be extracted, in mega joules, at the beginning of the process and how much this same ton processed silicon represents energy at the end of the process, that is, until the delivery of this energy to final consumers.
