With global population growth, the expansion of urban centers and the
influences arising from these phenomena that can negatively impact the
environment and society, there is a need for more viable, profitable technologies
and sustainable that provide the population with a sense of well-being, supplying the
demand of the current generation without depleting the resources for future generations. The use of
systems that generate clean and renewable energy is one of the interferences that in the long run
term can replace the use of energy from finite fossil sources,
contributing to the preservation of natural resources and reducing the concentration of
polluting gases in the atmosphere, which would help to control the greenhouse effect and increase
quality of life.
In Brazil, even the regions with the lowest levels of solar radiation have
great potential for energy use, an important factor for the implementation of
systems that use solar energy. Solar radiation can be used in several
applications, among them for the generation of electric energy through systems of Generation
Centralized (GC) and Distributed Generation (DG). In this context, this work aimed to
objective the characterization of the solar potential of ABC Paulista for energy generation
electricity using solar radiation data observed in Meteorological Stations
Automatics (EMAs) in and around the ABC, solar radiation data derived from
climate reanalysis from the TerraClimate model and calculated radiation data
by the SunData v.3.0 program. In conclusion to this study, three
scenarios (conservative, optimistic and pessimistic) quantifiers of energy potential
in the municipalities of ABC Paulista.
