SOLAR WATER HEATING FOR INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES: PROPOSED A METHOD FOR TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC ANALYSIS

PÁGINAS: 131
GRANDE ÁREA: Outra
ÁREA: Planejamento Energético
RESUMO:

Many studies have been produced worldwide about the use of solar energy for applications in industrial thermal processes, in order to identify potential uses and justify or motivate the expansion of such applications. However, although there are reported cases of solar heating systems being applied to industrial processes in plants of different industrial sectors around the world, they are still few, due to the existing industrial park. Several barriers hinder or prevent further dissemination and application of this form of energy were identified, among them the difficulty and complexity for the integration of these systems in existing and in operation industrial processes; the lack of knowledge about this technology by entrepreneurs and other decision-makers, which leads them to not even consider it as a possibility; the scarcity of easy-to-use computing tools, even by non-technical people, to support preliminary design sizing, costing and feasibility analysis. Thus, in order to create ways to help overcome such barriers, the general objective of this research work is to propose a methodology to select, size, integrate and estimate the economic and financial viability of solar water heating systems for application in industrial processes as well as developing a computational tool to support the preliminary calculation of the system design. To determine the required thermal load demand for the process and to identify the integration point of the process solar heating system, the Pinch Analysis Method will be used; For sizing the required solar collector field area, the F-Chart Method will be used; to support the decision to choose among different collectors technologies as flat collector, evacuated tube collectors and linear concentrating Fresnel collectors, to be suggested by the computational calculation tool, the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) or TOPSIS (Technique for Order) multicriteria decision methodology will be applied. Finally, to perform the economic analysis of the project will be applied Life Cycle Cost Method (LCC). The computational tool will be developed in Excel, and later can be programmed in another language to be accessed and used on the Internet or by application on smart phones. The tool shall use geographic and climatic parameters of the Brazilian territory and shall issue an output report with the collector area estimates for each of the technologies, investment cost, a classification of the technologies according the user defined criteria, the energy savings provided by the solar heating system, payback and internal rate of return (IRR). To test the methodology and the design tool, a case study will be presented in one industry.
