Discretion and Local Health Policies Implementation: street-level bureaucracy and integrative practices at Santos' local Health units
This research discusses traditional, complementary and other integrative practices developed on Santos (São Paulo, Brazil), Local Health units by the street-level bureaucracy, establishing relations between the the aforementioned in order to understand how those practices occur and are maintained. Through a multi-methods approach, combining an online survey and interviews, the research verifies that street-level bureaucracy are free to suggest and implement those practices, even if they don't have formal support of the municipality; however, they need backing from their immediate local supervisors so they can adjust and implement the practice's routine. Additionally, this text also states some guidelines in order to further develop the research.
