PUBLIC POLICIES IN EDUCATION AND URBAN YOUTH CRIMINALITY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF SÃO PAULO: THEIR APPLICATION IN THE SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL MEASURES OF FUNDAÇÃO CASA/SP
The objective of this manuscript is to analyze the contribution of educational public policies in reducing urban youth crime in the municipality of São Paulo based on data from Fundação Casa/SP in the period from 2015 to 2019. Therefore, we propose the following research question: How can public policies in Education contribute to reducing urban youth crime in the Municipality of São Paulo and its application in Fundação Casa's socio-educational measures? To this end, qualitative research was carried out with comparative analysis of data obtained at Fundação Casa de São Paulo. The data revealed that education is a strong ally in reducing crime and its application in socio-educational measures are mandatory by law, contributing to the resocialization of young offenders. However, its effectiveness depends on other factors, such as measures to reduce school dropout rates, creation of mechanisms for a positive experience in the school environment, support from parents and/or guardians of young people, community commitment, facilities better suited to complying with the measures. socio-educational activities without the aspect of prison, respect for the rights of inmates, among others.
