Social Movements and Judicial Institutions in Combating Violence Against Women: The case of Santo André's domestic violence annex
The present research project has the general objective of investigating the interactions between Social Movements and the Judiciary, contributing to the expansion of the study of mobilization of law in Brazil. This research agenda has been more intensively explored in international work since the 1990s, but it has only recently been incorporated into Brazilian studies. The theoretical framework of the research is based on the analytical framework on the mobilization of law, especially on the concept of political mobilization of justice (Oliveira et al., 2020). The object of study is the Domestic Violence Annex of Santo André/SP. The research seeks to explore how this public policy was created in the municipality and what were the action strategies used by the feminist movement in the ABC Paulista Region for it to be implemented. As a study methodology, the qualitative method will be used, centered on the case study strategy.
