RESUMO:

IoT enables people and objects to be connected at anytime and anywhere through platforms and related technologies,  also assisting in the processing of data generated from the entire production process so that it can be analyzed and distributed in the form of information that assists in decision making, development of the production systems and in response to changes of market demands. The application of IoT also has an important role to the urban context, as the several types of data collected and provided by the use of IoT can be applied to increase the transparency and promote actions toward the citizens, enhance people awareness on the status of the cities and stimulate the innovation of services and products. IoT is a feasible option to the management of cities, enabling them to develop and mature in the present and future, improving the quality of life of the population and promoting eco-friendly, sustainable environments. The interaction with the environment plays a key role to regulate human actions. Smart homes bring several advantages as the automation settings acts and responds accordingly to human behavior and requirements automatically, providing various facilities through ambient intelligence. Therefore, this research proposes an assessment of how user recognition devices are being applied in smart homes to set lighting design preferences through criteria that reflect the requirements that lead to the best user experience, presenting a comparison of proposed uses for each device in order to identify the feasibility of each solution.
