SUMMARY:

The general objective of the study is to verify whether a proposal for a brief educational intervention involving the dyad family-child/youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or Intellectual Disability (ID) is sufficient to promote the learning of specific behaviors. The study consisted of three specific objectives, organized into three chapters. In Chapter 1, the research objective was to verify if studies that implemented the educational intervention involved the family and the school and, if so, to identify what were the conditions of involvement and impact on the learning of the child with autism and/or intellectual disability. Another point was to verify which instruments have been used in research to study the involvement between family and school, as well as workflows and methodological procedures established for educational intervention. Chapter 2 had the specific objective of verifying whether a brief seven-week educational intervention applied by university students in initial teacher training would be sufficient to change the mothers' perception in relation to the development of the child and/or young person. 10 families and 10 university students in initial training participated. The intervention was evaluated using an A-B-A design (application of an assessment, intervention and reassessment). The results showed that out of 10 mothers, seven changed their perceptions about their children's development, identifying a greater number of independent responses by them in the areas of communication, socialization and activities of daily living. Chapter 3 aims to evaluate the effect of a brief 12-week educational intervention on the development of the child and/or young person, in relation to the teaching objectives, as well as the family and school implications. Six families participating in the research group led by the advisor will be selected, as well as the teachers responsible for the classroom, in which children and young people will be enrolled. A cross-setting multiple baseline design (home and school) will be used to measure the effect of the intervention. Semi-structured interviews and systematic observation will be used at home and at school during the intervention. It was verified in Chapter 2 that when verifying the independent responses of their children, the mothers modified the interactions with their children, qualifying them and thus enhancing their development. With Chapter 3, it is expected to specifically analyze the intertwining of contingencies involved in the intervention between family and school, as well as to assess whether the intervention can be considered as a metacontingency, based on the study of the intertwined contingencies between researcher, family and school that they will act recurrently and generate the added product (in this case, the learning of specific behaviors of the child/young person)
