Design to promote organizational innovation: application of collaborative methodologies at Sebrae

SUMMARY:

Sebrae went through the need to promote organizational innovation, adapting to the new needs of small companies. In order to have a complete and adequate solution for the organization's scenario, the Sebrae do Futuro Project was created, which is based on collaborative design methodologies. Thus, a case study was carried out with the objective of investigating the planning and execution process of the project, which foresees organizational innovation through the application of collaborative design methodologies and theories of Service Design, Consumer Experience Design and User Experience Design. The research involved conducting semi-structured interviews with 20 project participants, so that it was possible to identify and analyze: the motivations that led the organization to innovate and use the methodologies in question; the characteristics and constraints of the practical application of design methodologies in a real scenario; the challenges and barriers of this application; and the benefits and results of this application. From data collection through interviews and project documentation, content analysis was carried out, through investigation, categorization and combination of elements found. As motivations, the expectation of improving the customer experience, greater satisfaction, process optimization and greater operational efficiency were identified. The main constraints raised was to have a multidisciplinary team specialized in design, a compatible schedule and team, an organizational scenario conducive to innovation and the incorporation of the project into the organization's strategies. Among the challenges, were observed the traditional and vertical characteristics of the organization, the lack of a culture of innovation and collaboration, and resistance to change. Finally, benefits were identified such as a cultural change movement more focused on innovation, greater customer satisfaction and better perception of the products offered.
