RESUMO:

The following work analyses the applicability and impacts of the adoption from functional safety standards, such as NBR ISO 13849 – Segurança de Máquinas, in projects and manufacturing of agricultural machines from Brazilian’s market, and the results regard the reduction of accidents and this sector’s technological development. To validate those results, the research is mostly based in international references, since the standard NBR ISO 13849 was published in 2019 and only in the last revision of the Brazilian’s national regulatory standard (Norma Regulamentadora 12 – NR-12), referent to machinery safety work, it was included, indicating that national and imported equipment that meet the functional safety standard like ISO 13849 are in accordance with the requirements from NR-12, however, the use of old standards, which are technically outdated, is still accepted. The research is predominantly quantitative, with analyses from numerical results and establishing the relation of adoption from standards and accident reduction, of descriptive type, studying concrete facts from functional safety standards application, from documental strategy, collecting information mainly from governmental agencies (Standards Associations, Federal Minister of Health, Work, etc.), of transversal temporality, based on historical data, and survey design, studying the direct correlation of the use of standards and the increasing of the security. The study’s premise is that the adoption of functional safety standards contributes to the fatal and non-fatal accidents reduction, besides promote the development of the technology from agricultural sector, making then the machinery in accordance with international standards, being possible to archive international markets, today inaccessible due those requirements.
