A global investigation on climate comfort
The search for climatic comfort in the environment, influencing human well-being and productivity, can occur through the artificial air conditioning of closed environments, but it generates environmental impacts and an artificialization of the human life experience. In this project, we investigate which would be the places in the world with the best natural climate comfort, outdoors. A global survey will be carried out to assess how comfortable people feel in relation to the relative humidity, perceived temperature and solar radiation where they live. The results will be modeled using generalized additive mixed-effects models to create indicators of climate comfort. These models will be used, together with global spatial climate databases, to map climate comfort on a global scale. The results will be discussed regarding the spatial distribution of the current population and the past, current and future scenarios of demographic and climatic dynamics.
