Spatial analysis of the potential impact of contaminated areas on watercourses, wells and aquifers in the Alto Tietê basin
This project aims to determine the degree of risk and vulnerability of water courses, wells and aquifers in the Alto Tietê Basin, a location that comprises the metropolitan region of São Paulo and has one of the highest concentrations of contaminated areas in the state. For this, geoprocessing tools will be used, such as R and QGIS. The vulnerability of aquifers will be mapped, through the elaboration of a map of the AVI indicator (Aquifer Vulnerability Index); the safety ranges and the vulnerability of groundwater, from interpolation by kriging; the potential for accumulation of pollution over hydrography, through the connection of river stretches according to the upstream contaminated areas; and social vulnerability, using kernel maps. Finally, an integrated risk index will be created, through RGB geovisualization, to associate both variables. Thus, it is expected that the survey will serve as a basis for new projects and research, in addition to making society and public bodies aware of the region's vulnerability and risks, which can be prevented and mitigated with appropriate actions.
