Commuting displacements in Grande ABC: a study on the evolution of commuting between the Demographic Censuses of 2000 and 2010
The commuting is a relevant phenomenon among the population flows of the metropolitan regions and is the result of processes of production and appropriation of the urban space. The purpose of this research is to analyze the commuting displacements of a subregion of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo: the Grande ABC. In addition to highlighting this subregion in the industrial development process, both nationally and regionally, studies based on the 2000 and 2010 Demographic Census indicate that the Grande ABC has a specific commuting pattern compared to the other sub-regions of the MRSP. The objective of this research is to identify factors that determined the pattern of commuting or that altered this pattern in the Grande ABC, between 2000 and 2010. To investigate these factors will be analyzed socioeconomic and demographic data of the seven municipalities that comprise the Grande ABC, between 2000 and 2010, and the internal and external commuting flows in relation to this subregion.
