RESUMO:

The lack of theoretical consensus and the complexity of operationalizing social sustainability as a fluid, dynamic and multidisciplinary concept has, for decades, placed the emphasis of scientific knowledge on the economic and environmental pillars of sustainable development, making the social pillar less developed. In the industrial context, social sustainability is also recognized through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which acts as a tool for implementing organizational culture and encompasses the economic, legal, ethical and philanthropic expectations created by society about the business itself and about the impacts caused as a result of its activities in the most diverse interest groups, among them, employees. Currently, it is known that the search for knowledge around the CSR theme with a focus on employees, also known as “internal CSR”, has been gaining more and more space among researchers in the area. In addition, the prioritization of CSR initiatives to be adopted presents itself as a major challenge in a scenario of restricted financial resources and the implementation of non-genuine practices can cause significant negative impacts for the business, as well as the perception of strategic inconsistencies. arising from the prioritization of external practices instead of internal ones, directed at employees. In this context, this research aims to investigate how the individual perception of employees about internal and external CSR practices can contribute to the adoption of an effective social sustainability organizational strategy. To this end, a mixed survey method will be used in a single descriptive case study in which it seeks to investigate: i) the perception of employees about the aspects of social sustainability existing in the organization; ii) the perception of employees about the existence of strategic inconsistencies resulting from uneven implementation between internal and external CSR practices; iii) the potential existence of corporate actions inconsistent with the collective identity of the organization, called corporate hypocrisy; iv) the existence of a need for moral identification between the employee and the company; and v) how this need can impact the employee's intention to leave the company and their degree of job satisfaction.
