Presentation

The Graduate Program in Production Engineering (PPGEPR) aims to train professionals capable of identifying and engaging with contemporary scientific and technological research demands and issues. The program seeks to prepare qualified individuals to pursue careers as researchers, particularly in future doctoral studies.

The curriculum is designed to foster competencies and skills that enable future researchers to operate across a wide range of areas within Production Engineering. Graduates are expected to contribute to national development, either through the dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge acquired during the program—with a strong emphasis on scientific research—or through active engagement with local, regional, national, or international communities.

The program’s graduate profile emphasizes the creation of new knowledge, technologies, and production models; the enhancement of integrated production systems for goods and services; and the improvement of logistics and operations management. This includes managing people, materials, technology, information, energy, and environmental factors. The program seeks to develop models, practices, systems, projects, and innovations that advance the field of Production Engineering. Such contributions are expected to strengthen the country’s scientific research capacity and benefit both the academic and industrial communities by training and empowering professionals.

The program structure allows students to engage in curricular components aligned with the program’s area of concentration and research lines. Studies and research are developed across key areas such as product engineering, manufacturing, production, operations, modeling, and simulation, all of which are harmoniously integrated into the educational framework.

The PPGEPR’s area of concentration is Production Engineering (Industrial Engineering), as defined by Resolution CNE/CES 11/2002 and the Brazilian Association of Production Engineering (Abepro). The program prepares graduates to generate knowledge, technologies, and productive models through the design, implementation, operation, improvement, and maintenance of integrated production systems for goods and services—encompassing people, materials, technology, information, energy, and the environment.

The program’s research lines are:

- Advanced Manufacturing, Quality, and Product Engineering (MAQEP)

- Operations and Logistics Management (GOL)

- Modeling, Optimization, Simulation, and Systems Control (MOS)
