SUMMARY:

The central objective of the research is directed towards the analysis of the relationship between the Brazilian State and transnational corporations from the emphasis on mineral extractivism as a representation of persistent coloniality in International Relations. In this sense, the study of mining in Brazil and Eastern Amazon, investigated from the perspective of the relationship between the Brazilian state and transnational corporations, seeks to highlight the permanent character of coloniality and asymmetric relations between countries in the international system. The bibliography considers that decolonial studies present convincing arguments about the persistence of the colonial structure in capitalist expansion, which will be used as a critical perspective in the field of study of International Relations. The central hypothesis intends to investigate the persistence of coloniality on the appropriation of nature, as evidence of asymmetry of power between North and Global South. Secondary hypotheses: focusing on environmental impacts, measured by accidents and crimes caused by mining, it matters little whether the enterprises are managed by the Brazilian State or by corporations; the State and transnational corporations act jointly in the expansion of the colonial frontier and the consolidation of natural resource exploitation in the Amazon. The method is mainly qualitative and adheres to the hypothetical deductive approach, the historical interpretive method, and the case study method as research procedures supported by secondary data.
