This work aims to investigate the foreign policy of the Bolsonaro government in the light of an understanding of the fascistization process. To this end, we combine theoretical research on fascism and an analysis that explores the existence of characteristic elements of neo-fascism in Brazilian manifestations on foreign policy. Initially, we rescued the contribution of the Marxist theorist Nicos Poulantzas on fascism and the power bloc, to mobilize the concepts developed by the author and place them in dialogue with other contributions of foreign policy studies that have used such a conceptual apparatus. Through the concept of the fascistization process, we can examine specific characteristics of the infiltration of the neo-fascist movement in manifestations of Brazilian foreign policy, which contributes to a dialogue between theoretical productions of Political Science and Sociology that characterize the Bolsonaro government as neo-fascist. We then went through works that sought to understand the first years of the Bolsonaro government’s foreign policy, with emphasis on its automatic alignment with the United States of Donald Trump and a mobilization of foreign policy to agitate an agenda sensitive to extreme right movements. Finally, we list the central characteristics of the foreign policy of the period and its relationship with the middle class linked to Bolsonarism, in order to discuss what are the fundamental elements of the attempt to forge a new national identity aligned with neo-fascist values. When examining these characteristics, what we call a foreign policy of passive subordination with neo-fascist characteristics was found.
