RESUMO:

The present research intends to start a discussion about the underutilization of the combination of languages for teaching, since, in a world that is becoming increasingly imaginary, we still do not realize its potential for the dissemination of knowledge. The study is characterized as qualitative, contributing, first, with the state of knowledge about the national scientific production on the use of multiple languages in teaching materials for the purposes of inclusive teaching in Environmental Education, a pressing issue for the present day, in which the maintenance of complex earth systems (environmental, social and economic) is necessary for the preservation of life on the planet. The research took place through the keywords defined for the study in the Scielo and Capes Database of Theses and Dissertations, with the selection of those publications that addressed the use of language tools, the inclusion and the awareness promoted by the use of the combination of images and written text in the teaching of Environmental Education, thus contributing to support this work. The results indicated a lack of research in the area of inclusive education, evidencing that most of the research is dedicated to special education, focused on certain limitations and / or disabilities. We also identified that unifying multiple languages in one material allows us to reach a diverse audience, showing a possibility for inclusive teaching. Therefore, and understanding that the elaboration of a didactic material that contributes to the overcoming of the communication barriers in the teaching is urgent, the adaptation of a book belonging to the list of works recommended by the literary PNLD 2018 was planned and performed. The adapted book was used within a proposal for an inclusive didactic sequence on Environmental Education for the early years. The application of the sequence allowed us to conclude that, in general, the material produced brought contributions related to the understanding, motivation and sensitization of the students, mediated by the application of the multimodal language
