ANALYSIS OF TEXTBOOKS OF CHEMISTRY AND A PROPOSAL OF CONCEPTUAL PROFILE FOR THE CONCEPT OF CHEMICAL CONNECTION

PÁGINAS: 110
GRANDE ÁREA: Ciências Humanas
ÁREA: Educação
RESUMO:

The abstract nature of Chemistry makes this potential area for the use of analogies in its teaching, and if not properly conducted can generate epistemological obstacles. In this sense, the study of chemical bonding has great possibilities to reinforce alternative conceptions on the part of the students. According to Mortimer et al. (2009), classrooms are complex social spaces in which the teacher seeks ways of interacting with dozens of students in order to develop a very particular point of view: scientific thinking. In any classroom, there is an inevitable heterogeneity of ways of thinking and speaking that need to be understood in order for the teaching process to succeed. Thinking about this, in the mid-1990s, Mortimer proposed conceptual profiles as a way of understanding the heterogeneity of thought and language in science classrooms. Conceptual profiles should be understood as models of different ways of seeing and representing the world, used by people to mean their experience (Mortimer, 1994). Each individual has its own conceptual profile, which differs from other profiles by the importance given to the so-called conceptual zones, which represent particular ways of thinking concepts. The literature on science education has been used for a number of years, using several methodological perspectives for the elaboration of conceptual profiles and for the identification of their zones (Mortimer and El-Hani, 2014). Considering the need to propose a profile for the concept of chemical bond, the objective of this work is to collaborate for this purpose. The method used was the review of the investigations on the theory of conceptual profiles and analysis of secondary sources in the history of science. In relation to the possible conceptual zones for chemical bonding were observed the zones: animist, sensorialist, essentialist, substantialist, rationalist classic and rationalist modern.
