RESUMO:

This research, which adheres to the line of research in Teaching and Learning in Science and Mathematics, the Graduate in Teaching and History of Sciences and Mathematics of the Federal University of ABC, intends to start a discussion about the underutilization of visual language which, nowadays, when our world is becoming more and more figurative, it still does not have its potential employed in the dissemination of knowledge. Thus, we intend to present a proposal for the adaptation of didactic material, meeting the main guidelines of the universal design of learning (UDA), which has been shown to be very efficient in the process of overcoming barriers (BOCK et al., 2019, page 5). One of the biggest difficulties in learning is the communication - whereas the writing does not reach everyone - thus, visual language, which makes a more direct relationship with the world viewed by students, would make a relevant contribution to mitigate this adversity. This study has qualitative nature, performing a systematic review of the national scientific production on the use of visual language in teaching materials for the purpose of inclusive science education, specifically, Ecological Education, a pressing issue for the present day, in that preserving natural resources and recycling are a necessary alternative to maintaining life on the planet. The research took place through the keywords defined for the study through the Scielo and Capes Theses and Dissertations Database. The total search totaled 17,391 publications. After excluding that was repeated or unrelated, we totaled 359 publications. When performing a second screening, considering only those that had a direct relationship with the research object, we selected 24 publications, which we used as a reference to support our study. The results indicate that, in addition to the lack of research in truly inclusive education, as it was found that most research is dedicated to special education focused on certain limitations and / or disabilities, the use of UDA proves to be a remarkable contribution. to achieve inclusive education. Therefore, the elaboration of a didactic material that contributes to the overcoming of the barriers currently found in teaching is urgent, so as to guarantee the realization of the rights of these people who remain excluded.
