RESUMO:

This report of qualification was aimed to present he activities of the master course , performed during the period from February, 2018 until the present time. This work is engaged with the line of research teaching and Learning in Sciences and Mathematics of the graduation in Teaching and History of the Sciences and Mathematics of the Federal University of ABC, under the guidance of the Teacher Doctor Ana Maria Dietrich (UFABC) and the joint supervisor Teacher Doctor Geovanni Gomes Cabral (UNIFESSPA).

The issue of violence in today's society is alarming. A great amount of national and international researchers have been focused on this issue, and until the present time, the only hypothesis they have shared is that it occurs mostly between twenty and thirty-year-old-men.

Social inequalities that are emphasized by a normative and racist society make social conflicts increasingly taking the form of racism, chauvinism, misogyny, feminicide, homophobia, ethnic religious rivalries, xenophobia and ultra nationalism.

This dissertation recognizes that the school is a microcosm of the current society. The population, media, and education researchers point to basic education as the place where we can solve the problem of the violence by teaching about human rights. Once the school actually is this place, how should we deal with this problem that reproduces itself inside the proper school?  Are teachers and the entire school community prepared to find solutions to this? Are students willing to learn about Human Rights? Does the discourse of teachers and community match up with their daily practices in Human Rights?

In view of all these questions, the main aim of this work is to map violence in state public schools through a survey performed in 10 schools in the city of São Bernardo do Campo. By analyzing the data collected we will suggest pedagogical possibilities to deal with the issue of violence.

The result of this mapping will also bring elements for the elaboration of projects to minimize violence in the school community and will count on the participation of the teachers of the schools in study groups on issues related to violence and Human Rights, and especially the creation of a classroom and virtual network learning based on the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, by training these  teachers through collaborative and telecolaborative environments with the help of communication and information technologies.
