The organic urban gardens of the city of São Bernardo do Campo as non-formal Environmental Education practices
The objective of this qualification report is to present the master's activities, carried out from February 2018 until the present moment. This work was inserted in the line of research in History of Science and Mathematics and interfaces with Education, Post-Graduation in Teaching and History of Science and Mathematics of the Federal University of ABC and under the guidance of Prof.ª. Dr. Ana Maria Dietrich.
The research aims to investigate the impacts of organic urban gardens in the city of São Bernardo do Campo in relation to the non-formal Environmental Education experienced by the local population from the horticulture narrative. Therefore, researching the contributions that the horticulturalists of the organic urban gardens give to non-formal Environmental Education, while granting visibility to their memories and experiences. It will have as a background the discussions that involve the agroecological and environmental protection issues present in the sustainable development debate, whether in the countryside or in industrialized cities, and the developments for the Environmental Education policies at the municipal level.
As well as the conceptualization of organic agriculture, agroecology, agroecological transition and representations of nature in the 21st century, through the analysis of documentary research data from the Historical Archives, Educational Guidelines, Laws and environmental / agroecological educational projects of the municipality in question. Field research is being carried out in the respective organic urban gardens of the municipality, through interviews with horticulturists and questionnaires for the consumer public. In this way, we understand, interrelations between state politics, society, environmental education and science and technology (S & T).
