The socioscientific issues (SSI) are problematics that involves social, political, economic, moral, ethical, cognitive and interdisciplinary dimensions, the proposition of these questions to students enables them to reflect on the role and nature of science, so that they seek to understand how the advances in science and technology (S&T) affect society and the environment in which they are inserted. The application of these problems in a course of an initial teacher training allows the licensing to confront their own experiences, thus providing new practices and teaching methodologies. In this research, through the foundations proposed by Paulo Freire and Derek Hodson, we seek to understand how the activities performed by a group of undergraduate students from a federal university contributed to the construction of a socioscientific thought. In this way, we aimed to analyze how the proposition of the SSI in the planning contributed to a sociopolitical action of the students and how the inclusion of these problems contributed to the understanding of the formative potentialities about the SSI. For the methodological construction we used the qualitative approach, the group investigated was composed of six undergraduate students of bachelor's degrees in science and technology, management engineering and bachelor's degree in biological sciences. The data were constituted through didactic sequences produced by this group and semi-structured interviews that were performed after the conclusion of the discipline. The results were discussed in light of the theoretical frameworks.
