THE RESULTS' IMPROVEMENT METHOD IN THE SÃO PAULO STATE SCHOOL SYSTEM
This research refers to the Results' Improvement Method (MMR) inserted in the state school system of São Paulo in 2016, aiming to boost work through pedagogical projects that can involve students and be accompanied throughout a school year by the entire team, and may be reassessed and reappointed if proven to be ineffective. The main objective is to raise the indicators of state schools in São Paulo in external evaluations and improve performance, especially in Portuguese and mathematics. This experience is not exactly new, as it was implemented by a company that developed the method and applied it in other Brazilian states and municipalities. In São Paulo, this initiative is part of the managerial logic of the state network that has advanced through successive PSDB governments and has a repertoire of actions to raise the performance of professionals and students based on indicators. This way of conducting educational public policy is a mark of contemporaneity and finds in São Paulo an essential showcase to be disseminated throughout the country. A policy like this, centered on indicators, brings a series of problems caused by the subjective precariousness of work, a feeling of insufficiency, and extreme fatigue among network professionals who feel the heavy burden of accountability and all that results in a growing devaluation of their career and which, aggravated by new demands, makes their professional routine increasingly discouraging. The objective and subjective questions about the MMR need attention because they provide clues to understand how the largest education network in Latin America works and how São Paulo teachers and managers see their role in the current situation.
