The development of girls' participation in inquiry activities
Historically, science-related areas have a male predominance and, although there are actions that encourage the involvement of women in scientific areas, they represent only a third of the world's researchers. Teaching through investigation in Science promotes the approximation of the school context with scientific practices and promotes greater interaction of students, in this sense, we can consider that developing investigative activities during classes can contribute to increasing the interest of girls in classes, in science and even by scientific areas and careers, which can help to change this scenario. Thus, seeking to contribute to this situation, our work aimed to verify if a didactic sequence based on the investigative approach allows the expansion of the participation of girls from the Final Years of Elementary School in activities in the didactic situations of science. The analysis of the present research was carried out in view of the data collected from the extension project "Adolescent girls and their involvement with Science: possibilities and challenges using research teaching" developed in 2019 with students from the 8th and 9th grades of elementary school II from schools public and private in the ABC region. The analysis of the results is in progress.
