SUMMARY:

This thesis arises from our questions: in the formative contexts in courses in the areas of Biological and Health Sciences, how are the themes of sexual and gender diversity worked? And, when the themes are inserted in these media, what are the controversies raised around dissident genders and sexualities in Education, especially in Higher Education? Thus, among the objectives of this research are: 1) mapping the controversies from our research questions; 2) discuss the dynamics of biological discourse and the oppressions experienced by dissident bodies in contemporary times, in conjunction with the field of Biology and Health Teaching; 3) to investigate the panorama of knowledge and practices revolting against the hegemonic sex-gender system that has been produced by dissident bodies in academia and outside it. In order to achieve our objectives, we used the Actor-Network Theory proposed by Latour (2012) and Venturini's Controversies Cartography (2010a; 2010b) as a methodological contribution, which offered us a theoretical-methodological framework so that we could mapping the controversies to establish a discussion based on some of Venturini's tools (ibidem). The references used in this research are located in the post-structuralist current of gender studies, with Preciado (2014; 2018), Butler (1997; 2003; 2019) and Haraway (1995; 2018) being the three main theoretical foundations adopted. Furthermore, the decolonial thinking proposed by Sueli Carneiro (2005) and Boaventura de Sousa Santos (2007) were valuable contributions to our constructions. Therefore, the epistemological revolts proposed in this work are raised from the constructions Jota Mombaça (2016) and the clandestine episteme of Nídia Aranha (2020 a; b; c), which deal with how dissident bodies have constructed new epistemologies and policies of the taking into account our Latin American context and the need to get rid of the coloniality of knowledge and knowledge about bodies, which is configured as the biologizing discourse in the investigated context. The theoretical and analytical incursions carried out in the construction process of this thesis lead us to consider that the themes of gender and sexualities, although extremely determinant aspects of our embodied experience in the social, are still considered immaterial subjectivities and, therefore, proposals to integrate these aspects of human life within the training curricula of health professionals still go through clashes that date back to the 20th century and extend to contemporary times. However, there are possible paths within the training spaces themselves where, through the mutual effort of actors, we can see possibilities and specific claims that sexual and gender dissidence are determinant aspects of health care and begin to expressively integrate these spaces, whether initial or continuing education. In parallel to this, there is a commitment adopted by scholars in the areas of gender and sexualities in education that denotes a commitment to the subversion and construction of other spaces and epistemologies, based mainly on the currents of feminist, queer and decolonial studies Latin American.
