From reason to nonbeing: african natural pyhilosophy, the renaissance, social representation and propositions to the Science Teaching
Africa gave birth to the world. Scientific studies in paleontology, arqueology, biology, genetics and linguistics, show up that modern humans are the result of a single event called Great Diaspora, where african population migrated to populate the Earth. It means we have to show a great respect when we look up to african continent, because some crucial chapter of our human history were developed there. Ancient intelectuals such as Porphyry, Aristotle, Seneca the Young, Plutach, Macrobius, point out that the production of knoledge made by egyptians in natural philosophy, astronomy and physics, were crucial for the intellectual development of humanity. This work will present some of the egyptians expertise, such as: planetary systems, mechanical sciences and also, the contributions of other ancient people to natural philosophy. In this context, it is worth asking: what is the place that Africa occupies in Science Education? This question is relevant because in brazilian society, people are mostly african descendants, which means that most students are people of color, and we must be concern about which kind of science they are learning. The previous question was answered by an investigation in the annals of scientific education events, in national and international search platforms, in collections of textbooks from the final grades of elementary school and in books of scientific dissemination. The results indicated a mismatch between the ancient perspective on scientific development and the contemporary vision. In the past, the ancients recognized the role that the egyptians played in the systematization of knowledge, but today this fact is hidden, under the assumption the egyptians were mystical and contrary to scientific knowledge. Which is worth asking: what is the idea of science that will be transmitted to students, who are majority african descendants? The “whiteness” express on the science curriculum it will do them fell apart of science? We will discuss about these questions on this work, and we hope the researches in Science Education be concerned with the learning of african descendants on science.
