RESUMO:

This study seeks to understand the potentiality of the confrontation of the silencing of the epistemologies of the South through the approach to the History of Science and a decolonial pedagogy, promoting or combating the subalternization of knowledge, or breaking with the epistemic domination of the colonial matrix, or promoting a reflection on or process of decolonization of knowledge, gives construction of a cultural identity and on the knowledge of the Brazilian historical-social and epistemic roots. This study develops from reflections on the History of Science in interface with teaching, as a strategy in the promotion of a critical and liberating education, presenting elements that make it possible to understand science as a human and contextualized practice. Not running the study analyzes the decolonial movement, or which clam historically overcomes coloniality by thinking of a new history in which the colonized/explored are also recognized as participating agents and not only as subalterns and subjugates, I expose, therefore, the need for A confrontation of the silencing of cultures and epistemes of the global sul. The relationships proposed in this study between the History of Science, decolonial pedagogy and the invisibility of cultures of their own are understood from the analysis of a documentary source dating from the 16th century, resulting from two records of the Jesuit Fernão Cardim. This document describes in detail the characteristics and curative functions of some plants found on the land of Brazil and used by indigenous people. Likewise, we analyze the Eurocentric discourse applied to the description of the bem plants as the strategies of exclusion of the source from where the information is extracted from the work, promoting an invisibility of indigenous knowledge. Apart from the presentation of two theoretical references related to the aforementioned theme, we continue with the analysis of a continuing education course for teachers that explored the existence of a recognition of the silence of the epistemologies of the South and the potential of this reflection as a theoretical strategy in the promotion of an education. of overcoming the colonial past, of how reflexive and critical.
