The following work aims to consider the arguments that reinforce the pedagogical and questioning potentialities of the History of Mathematics, according to Miguel (1997), supported by bibliographical research on the History of Statistics and the development of activities for use in Basic Education classrooms. basic statistical concepts as referring to the meaning of the word “Statistics” and also related to the concepts of population, sample, census, graphs and statistical tables. We developed activities that were described and categorized and reported in text form, so that components of a sequence of proposals that seek to reproduce facts constituting the historical development of statistical contents that underlie this area of knowledge are developed, so that, from these activities, make it possible for students to grasp the statistical contents studied. In this investigation, a multivariate textual analysis was performed of the answers given to the activities proposed in the instrument made available via Google Forms by 65 high school students (1st to 3rd year) and 44 elementary school students (6th to 8th year) of two state schools in the municipalities of Santo André and São Paulo. This research is exploratory, with a qualitative and quantitative approach through a questionnaire and analyzed using the IRaMuTeQ software (R Interface for Multidimensional Text and Questionnaire Analysis), an auxiliary tool for the coding process of the elements brought in through data collection. This evaluation served as support to evaluate the proposed activities supported by a pedagogical proposal using the history of Statistics for students from 6th to 8th grade of Elementary School and 1st to 3rd year of High School, seeking to identify skills and abilities concerning the basic statistical notions that were the focus of the proposed activities. We emphasize that analyzes were carried out separately for elementary school and high school students, followed by a comparative study between the two levels of education. We observed that students realized that, based on the history of statistics, knowledge arises from cultural manifestations of peoples and that this knowledge has undergone transformations throughout history until it constitutes the knowledge we have today. Thus, it was conceived that statistical knowledge is not something ready and finished as many believed it to be, making it indispensable as a result of scientific, technological, social and economic development. It is also considered that both elementary and high school students understood the proposed questions, and high school students showed better results, which was expected for this more advanced stage of knowledge.
