The urban gardens of the city of São Bernardo do Campo as non-formal Environmental Education practices.
This research aims to investigate the relationship of organic urban gardens in the city of
São Bernardo do Campo within the perspective of non-formal Environmental
Education, bringing the narratives of horticulturists as a source of analysis. In this sense,
it seeks to give visibility to its memories and experiences, in addition to establishing a
relationship with discussions on agroecological and environmental protection issues
present in the debate on sustainable development, whether in the countryside or in the
city. We will bring reflections on the developments for Environmental Education
policies at the municipal level, analyzing, therefore, Environmental History, mainly
regional. The field research was carried out in the city's organic urban gardens, through
Oral History interviews with horticulturists. In this way, it seeks to understand,
interrelationships between state policy, society, environmental education and science
and technology.
We will see in this study that organic urban gardens through the practices, memories
and experiences of horticulturists promote non-formal environmental education, in
addition to contributing to an increasingly sustainable food and environment.
