RESUMO:
This research aims to analyze the knowledge of teachers of elementary school - Early Years about mathematical literacy, from its approach in current curriculum documents, to their pedagogical practices. Our investigative question was how do curriculum documents address this concept and what teachers' knowledge and practices about it? Mathematical literacy is a perspective that involves working with mathematics from the social practices of students' everyday life, in which they seek to improve their skills in dealing with mathematical language critically in the various situations of their lives, inside and outside the classroom. school. Considering the context of the research, we start from the approach of this perspective in the Curriculum Proposal of São Bernardo do Campo, as it is the curricular document in force, in which, despite not contemplating the concept of mathematical literacy (since its publication is earlier the first approaches of this concept), brings some convergent characteristics to this perspective. We also use the BNCC (National Common Curricular Base), a normative document that has been in force since 2017 with the purpose of guiding the construction of curricula of schools throughout the country, and which brings the concept and highlights it as necessary in working with Mathematics, in However, the few skills presented in the document make this approach explicit. To meet the research objective, the methodological proposal involved field work, based on participant observation, with data collection through a questionnaire, written records regarding the teachers' participation in formative moments already foreseen in the research scenario, as well as records in a field diary of everyday school situations involving the interaction of the researcher, who acts in the coordination of the researched school, during the monitoring of teachers' plans, pedagogical meetings, Year Councils / cycle and conversations involving questions or reports of teachers involving subject of this research.
