Rotation and Lorentzian Groups and Applications.
In this work we will explore two groups of orthogonal matrices which are transformations in two well-known vector spaces: Euclidean and Minkowski. We'll present in detail the properties of these groups and then suggest activities for the final years of high school, aiming to enrich the teaching of Analytical Geometry and introduce, even if implicitly, the study of Linear Algebra in Basic Education. Such activities will be proposed by using the Geogebra software. We'll also present the relations of the Lorentz group with Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity, as well as with the famous and intriguing Twin Paradox. The latter we'll explore its broader version addressing the case for non-inertial references. Thus, we hope to present an example of the application of mathematical concepts in the field of Physics or even a support text for teachers of these two disciplines.
