What are human rights? Why are human rights one of the most important issues of our time? How are human rights implemented in different countries and regions of the world? What changes have human rights brought about? This introductory course on human rights aims to make the subject accessible to students of all disciplines. We will have lessons on the history of human rights and the functioning of international protection systems to understand their scope and reach. We will also look at specific issues related to LGBTIQA+ community, refugees, public security, gender, minorities, and the role of the arts, focusing on experiences in different parts of the world. Guest lecturers will bring fresh perspectives from different disciplines and regions of the world. This course will be teached in English and is organized in partnership with the University Tubingen, Germany, and will count on the participation of students from this university, through a shared virtual room. The methodology will be based on guest lectures, readings, discussions, and group work. Assesment wil focus on attendance, active participation in discussions and group work. The Course has 20 hours of activities, 12 hours of virtual classes (One hour and a half each class) plus 8 hours of external activities. Participants must attend at least six (6) classes in order to obtain the certificate.
O que são direitos humanos? Por que os direitos humanos são uma das questões mais importantes de nosso tempo? Como os direitos humanos são implementados em diferentes países e regiões do mundo? Que mudanças os direitos humanos provocaram? Este curso introdutório sobre direitos humanos tem o objetivo de tornar o assunto acessível a alunos de todas as disciplinas. Teremos aulas sobre a história dos direitos humanos e o funcionamento dos sistemas de proteção internacional para entender seu escopo e alcance. Também analisaremos questões específicas relacionadas a comunidade LGBTIQA+, refugiados, segurança pública, gênero, minorias e o papel das artes, com foco em experiências em diferentes partes do mundo. Os palestrantes convidados trarão novas perspectivas de diferentes disciplinas e regiões do mundo. Esse curso será ministrado em inglês e é organizado em parceria com a Universidade de Tubingen, na Alemanha, e, por meio de sala compartilhada, contará com a participação de alunos dessa universidade. A metodologia será baseada em palestras de convidados, leituras, discussões e trabalhos em grupo. A avaliação se concentrará na presença, na participação ativa nas discussões e no trabalho em grupo. O Curso tem 20 horas de atividades, sendo 12 horas de aulas virtuais (uma hora e meia por aula) mais oito horas de atividades externas. Os participantes devem comparecer a, no mínimo, seis (6) aulas para poderem obter o certificado.
ABOUT THE COURSE HOURS: There will be eight synchronous classes, each lasting one and a half hours, totaling 12 hours of classes; and there will be eight hours of external activities, which will be detailed in the first class of the Course. Total course hours = 20 hours. The Course will be held in two different time zones, in the case of Brazil it will be from 11:30 to 13:00 (São Paulo time).
SOBRE A CARGA HORÁRIA DO CURSO: Serão oito aulas síncronas, com duração de uma hora e meia cada uma, totalizando 12 horas de aula; e haverá oito horas de atividades externas, que serão detalhadas na primeira aula do Curso. Total de horas do Curso= 20horas. O Curso será realizado em dois fusos diferentes, no caso do Brasil será das 11:30 às 13:00 (Hora São Paulo)
