RESUMO:

Students with visual impairment, participants in the regular Brazilian education system, use to perform their educational activities, computers and assistive technologies such as magnifying glasses, reading software through synthesized voice, sound calculator, braille machines among other resources, which are made available by the Ministry of Education in the multifunctional resource rooms of basic education. However, during the assessments for access to higher education the use of these resources is not regularly allowed, which makes it difficult to carry out the test on the part of the visually impaired person. For the university selection process, adapted materials are usually made available and human assistance is used for the purpose of reading the proof, describing the images, completing the templates and transcribing the essay. Consequently, the person with visual impairment depends heavily on the skills and abilities of others who are subject to failure. In this scenario, the visually impaired person does not have the same opportunity to take the exam independently, as do other competitors, a factor that may impair their access to higher education. The objective of this study is to promote the visually impaired person's access to higher education and the educational right during the test. Thus, it is necessary to investigate the profile and performance of the visually impaired student in university assessments in the current Brazilian scenario, in addition to researching solutions used in other countries to make assessments more accessible. At the international level, there is an increase in the application of large-scale computer-based evaluations, replacing the traditional proof with the use of pencil and paper, however, studies on the application of this solution for the accessibility of long-scale, for people with disabilities in Brazil. In order to fill this gap, this paper presents the practical application of a computer-based assessment, used in international assessments, to enable the autonomous participation of the visually impaired person in the Brazilian context, specifically using the National Examination High School (ENEM). Thus, this study presents a research that includes literature review for mapping accessible solutions, quantitative analysis of the participation of persons with disabilities in the ENEM, installation, customization, testing and application of a technological solution for subjects with visual impairment to perform ENEM, observation in the field, questionnaire application and finally, through the analysis of the results obtained, it is expected to present the diagnosis with positive and negative factors in the use of the evaluated solution, as well as the main challenges to promote equality of access for the person with visual impairment in higher education.
