TÍTULO:
CHARACTERIZATION OF DEMAND AND WIND VARIATIONS THROUGH THE COPULA THEORY FOR OPTIMAL REACTIVE POWER FLOW

PÁGINAS: 84
GRANDE ÁREA: Outra
ÁREA: Planejamento Energético
RESUMO:

New sources of reactive power have been connected to the transmission networks to improve the voltage profile and minimize power losses. Among these sources, wind farms can provide reactive energy and contribute to the control of voltage levels. However, the power supplied to the system by these wind farms varies due to the wind's speed. Also, the electrical system needs greater support of reactive power at certain times of the day because of the different patterns of electricity consumption of the inhabitants. This work aims to characterize the simultaneous variations of the wind speed and the demand through the theory of copulation to analyze the changes of the injected values of reactive power that can cause deviations in the voltage's value in each bus of the electrical system. The developed methodology uses the Weibull and Gamma distribution to characterize the expected values of wind speed and electricity demand, respectively, during the transmission systems' operation. These distributions are correlated by copulation theory to create a new probability distribution that considers the possibility of having simultaneous variations in wind and demand at a point of operation of the electrical system. With the objective to analyze the impacts of such variations on reactive management, the values of the distribution obtained by the Copula theory are inserted as input data in an optimal power flow model. This model's results allow obtaining a sample and create confidence intervals of the values of reactive power injected and voltage in each bus of the electrical system. The proposed methodology was tested using a system of 140 bars from Spain to analyze the variations that can happen in the long-term variations of the tension because of changes in the wind speed and demand values. The results found in the proposal can help the operators of the electrical systems in the studies carried out within the analysis of the electrical systems' operation.
