Analysis of cultural manifestations in public spaces in Curitiba
Considering that artistic and cultural manifestations constitute a means for exercising the right to the city, as proposed by Lefebvre, this research aims to analyze: (i) how municipal administrations in Curitiba approach the use of public spaces for cultural events , and (ii) whether the urban planning policy initiated in the 1970s, which culminated in the image of a “model city”, impacts, to this day, the exercise of the right to the city. To this end, this research proposes the use of records of cultural events promoted by the municipal administrations of Gustavo Fruet (2013-2016) and Rafael Greca (2017-2020), municipal legislation regarding the use of public spaces, interviews with artists and producers cultural events, as well as a bibliographical review on the right to the city, public spaces, cultural manifestations and urban planning in Curitiba.
