Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease, affecting approximately 1-3% of adults over 60 years of age. Among other factors, PD impacts the patient's motor activities and quality of life. The change in the oscillatory pattern of the local field potential of the subthalamic nucleus (STN-LFP) is frequently observed in patients with PD, which occurs, in particular, in the beta (13-35 Hz) and gamma (35-100 Hz) sub-bands. Hz), which are also associated with movement modulation. A treatment typically used in severe PD is continuous deep brain stimulation, which is speculated not to be completely efficient because it ignores typical oscillatory variations characteristic of the motor state. In this sense, the prediction of the motion state based on the spectral composition of the STN-LFP is still a challenge and a matter of debate to design new strategies for deep brain stimulation, that is, an essential treatment in PD. This work seeks to detect the motor status of parkinsonian patients from the local field signals of the subthalamic nucleus submitted to the procedure for implanting electrodes for deep electrical stimulation. To this end, multiple techniques associated with signal processing and supervised learning strategies are applied, such as: digital filtering, spectrum estimation, cross-validation and classification (linear discriminant analysis, naive Bayes, k-nearest neighbors, vector machines Support).
