Development of Methodologies for Islanding Detection in Systems with Photovoltaic Generation

PÁGINAS: 95
GRANDE ÁREA: Outra
ÁREA: Multidisciplinar
RESUMO:

The electrical power system is changing. Advances in legislation made it possible to connect distributed generators (DGs) on the grid and units that only consumed power now inject it into the grid, creating a bidirectional power flow, increasing the complexity of the electrical system and bringing new challenges to protection schemes. The solar resource is abundant and sustainable. Photovoltaic generation has been growing in recent years and is already the most used source as distributed generation in Brazil. The main concern when connecting a DG to the grid is unintentional islanding, which occurs when the DG energy is not supervised by the grid. When this situation is not identified by the existing protections, in addition to power quality problems, accidents can occur, as there is a part of the network that is improperly energized. This work aims to propose and compare methodologies for detection of islanding in photovoltaic distributed generators. The first methodology is based on artificial neural networks (ANNs), and an analysis is performed by analyzing the voltage signals at the connection point between the installation and the utility. The second proposed methodology uses Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) to detect islanding, also analyzing the voltage signal at the point of connection with a utility company. The preliminary results are promising, since the two proposed techniques were able to detect islanding hypotheses in the face of different operative hypotheses. This work also aims to define the non-detection zone (ZND) of the proposed methodologies, comparing them with the ZND of conventional schemes for islanding detection. The performance times of the proposed methodologies and conventional protections are also due to this work.
