THE PROBLEM OF TRANSITION: ECONOMIC PLANNING AND SOCIALIST TRANSITION IN CHINA DURING THE YEARS OF THE CULTURAL REVOLUTION (1966-1976)
The objective of this work is the economic planning and socialist transition in China during the years of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. We aim to incorporate the analysis of the Chinese Cultural Revolution into the Marxist theoretical debate regarding the conception of socialism and the economic planning as the foundation of the political economy of socialism. In this way, we will start with Marx's interpretation of socialism as the negation of capitalist production categories to critically analyze the issue of socialist transition during the Chinese Cultural Revolution.
Therefore, we will emphasize the Cultural Revolution as an attempt to break away from the Soviet model of socialism, which was predominant in the international communist movement during that period. Through its theoretical foundations and practical experience, we seek to understand its limitations and advancements from the perspective of socialist construction.
